Solheim Cup: Stacy Lewis ruled out with back injury and replaced by Ally McDonald

Following Stacy Lewis was ruled out with a spine injury, team USA have been forced into a late change with their Solheim Cup group.
After aggravating her issue on Monday afternoon, has been substituted by Ally McDonald.
The 34-year-old was having treatment for the injury after it flared up during the Cambia Portland Classic and, although she was passed fit to take her position on the group, the disease returned on the opening day of practice.
While being consoled by Inkster and a number of her team-mates lewis, who was set to create her Solheim Cup appearance, has been observed, and she’ll stay at Gleneagles to encourage her group.
« Stacy is one of the fiercest competitors I have ever met. I understand this was an incredibly challenging decision for her, however she has the group’s best interests in mind, » said Inkster.
« Stacy will remain with Team USA within the following week and will nevertheless be an unbelievable asset for our team. But when I had to go for an alternate, I knew Ally will be able to step up to the challenge. She’s got a cool mind but a fiery spirit. I know she will bring her very best to Team USA. »
A psychological Lewis added: »I’m extremely disappointed to not have the ability to play. I’m a competitor and I want to playwith, however I had a back injury flare up past week. I have done everything I could possibly do over the last week with.
« For my health along with that which I feel is in the best interest of the group, I decided to take myself out. I will take a different function with the group and will do anything I can to help Team USA bring the Cup home. »
McDonald was as the first alternative on standby at Gleneagles, and she will become the Solheim Cup newcomer on the team.
« I did not wish to create the team in this manner, however when Juli told me exactly what was happening with Stacy, I was ready to step right into either role, if that was being here and being a part of this experience or being ready to tee it up, » said McDonald.
« It was only mentally preparing for either scenario. I am obviously quite excited to playwith. This was a objective of mine to play on this team. »
The change is very similar to that of Europe from the contest when Catriona Matthew had to step into as a participant when Suzann Pettersen was ruled out using a back issue.
